The State Duma assessed the impact of US sanctions on negotiations on Ukraine

Russia has always been ready and is currently ready for negotiations, but it is necessary that this desire be on all sides. This opinion was expressed by State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa on Wednesday, May 28.
Earlier it was reported that US President Donald Trump may decide as early as this week whether Washington will strengthen restrictions against Moscow, according to the website. kp.ru .
As noted, the head of the White House fears that Russia will refuse to negotiate a cease-fire if the United States threatens to impose new anti-Russian economic sanctions, Regnum news agency reports.
"Unfortunately, Kiev is doing everything to disrupt these negotiations, and Western countries that are exerting serious pressure, including on the United States, are also helping Ukraine to disrupt this process. Therefore, we have done and will do everything to achieve a peaceful settlement, because these negotiations should be a guarantee of security," Chepa said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
The parliamentarian stressed that the introduction of restrictions would not affect the course of the peace talks. At the same time, he noted that any sanctions and actions will be countered by Russia.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on May 26 that Trump may impose new anti-Russian sanctions this week. It was noted that the reason for this decision was the disappointment of the American leader with the pace of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
The next day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that many media outlets were trying to disrupt the peace process in Ukraine and egg on the United States to impose new sanctions against Russia. He stressed that the Kremlin is aware of this, but at the same time notes the "balanced" approach of Trump.
