The expert named the reasons for the loss of car power

The most common cause of power loss is poor gasoline. The mixture explodes before a spark appears, preventing the piston from moving. The piston group wears out more, and the thrust decreases. On older engines with a worn-out cylinder-piston group, some of the gases uselessly go into the crankcase, leaving the engine without the required power. Alexander Kornev, head of the Department for work with importers at Gazprombank Autoleasing, told Izvestia on May 29.
Also among the common reasons for reducing engine thrust are piston burnout, ring deposits, and spark plugs overgrown in carbon deposits. So, the throttle valve can jam due to wear or heavy contamination, opening at the wrong angle, the expert explained.
"In addition, an incorrectly positioned timing belt disrupts the operation of the valves: they close a little earlier than necessary or a little later, so the dynamics decreases. Also, the stretched timing chain interferes with the proper operation of the engine," said Kornev.
According to him, the car can drive badly because of a dirty air filter. The air does not pass through it well, violating the correct proportions of the fuel mixture preparation. Similar signs appear when the intake system is depressurized, if the hose breaks or jumps off the seat.
"Traction also disappears due to a banal fuel shortage when the fuel filter is clogged with dirt or the old fuel pump is malfunctioning. Dirty nozzles with a missing spray torch can also cause a loss of vehicle power. In addition, the "horsepower" can leave the engine due to a collapsed catalyst, which has clogged itself with its own decomposition products, since the disrupted exhaust gas removal process reduces power," the expert added.
However, it happens that the car itself underestimates the power if there is a problem with the sensors somewhere. The electronic control unit can force the engine operation into emergency mode in order to safely reach the service station. As Kornev noted, the infamous Check Engine usually lights up on the dashboard at such moments.
"Sometimes the power suddenly disappears and then suddenly reappears. Such "wandering" problems can only be caught with an experienced diagnostician, but it's worth trying, because in the future you may miss serious problems and get expensive repairs," the expert concluded.
Earlier, on May 27, experts from the SberAuto car purchase, maintenance and sale service told Izvestia that when choosing a car, novice drivers often focus on the design, cost and mileage of the car, forgetting about the importance of active and passive safety systems. As a result, they can purchase a car with the airbags disabled or not repaired after an accident. According to experts, it is important to check the serviceability of the ABS, ESP (electronic stabilization) systems, as well as to study the crash tests of the model generation being considered for purchase.
