Kiev has signed a contract with Berlin for the supply of IRIS-T complexes and ammunition for them in the amount of € 2.2 billion. This was announced on May 28 by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.

"A contract has been signed with Diehl Defense for the production of IRIS-T systems and missiles for them. The total value of the contract is €2.2 billion," she wrote on her Facebook page (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).

In March, it became known that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine had signed a memorandum with Diehl Defense, which manufactures IRIS-T. It is claimed that the agreement provides for a threefold increase in the supply of missiles and air defense systems.

The Washington Post reported on May 26 that the German authorities plan to transfer older and less effective missiles to Ukraine for American-made Patriot systems. It is noted that Berlin plans to send its old PAC-2 Patriot missiles to Ukraine, which, unlike the new PAC-3 missiles, are not as effective at intercepting ballistic missiles.
