In Germany, two thirds of Taurus cruise missiles are in need of maintenance. This was announced on May 28 by German military expert and retired Colonel Ralf Thiele in an interview with NTV.

"We have only a few hundred of them [missiles], of which two thirds require maintenance. So this is a somewhat outdated system, although it is good and accurate," he believes.

According to Thiele, this state of affairs means that Germany is able to transfer only a small number of weapons to countries if necessary, as well as leave some missiles on its territory.

At the same time, the expert clarified that the delivery of Taurus to Ukraine will not have much impact on the course of the conflict.

On the same day, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Germany would support Ukraine in developing its own long-range weapons. He also said that Germany would transfer Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev. In addition, Merz again announced the lifting of restrictions on the range of use for weapons supplied to Ukraine.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Merz's statements about lifting restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine only provoke the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine.
