The first deputy Minister of Natural Resources of Kuban was detained on suspicion of especially large-scale fraud. This was reported on May 28 in the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Krasnodar Territory.

"The First department for the investigation of particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory has opened a criminal case against the first Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of the region. He is suspected of fraud committed on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," the department's Telegram channel says.

According to the investigation, in the summer of 2023, the deputy minister offered to influence the convict's sentence for a fee. An acquaintance approached him with a request to help him change the court decision that came into force against the grandson of his friend — a man was sentenced to imprisonment for repeated drunk driving.

According to investigators, the official referred to his connections and stated that he could get the sentence commuted to a more lenient one.

"He demanded 4 million rubles allegedly for transfer to officials," the regional office of the Investigative Committee clarified, adding that in fact the man intended to embezzle the money.

An investigation is underway against the defendant, within the framework of which the investigation plans to apply for his detention. Operational support of the case is provided by employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory.

On May 20, a criminal case was opened in Sevastopol on the embezzlement of over 176 million rubles from budget funds during the implementation of the State Defense Order against individual entrepreneur Viktor Boychuk. In 2023-2024, the Russian Defense Ministry signed multimillion-dollar contracts with Boychuk for the supply of timber. During this period, the entrepreneur provided fake documents about the quality and cost of this resource.
