German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during a press conference following a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on May 28, evasively answered a question from journalists about the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev. The event was broadcast on The Guardian's YouTube channel.

Merz noted that on this day the intention of the German and Ukrainian defense ministers to cooperate more closely was confirmed.

"We want to provide long-range weapons. We also want to ensure joint production," he said, answering the question whether Berlin is ready to supply the Taurus to the Ukrainian side.
