Netanyahu for the first time confirmed the elimination of the head of the military wing of Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed for the first time the liquidation of the head of the military wing of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Sinwar. He announced this on May 28 during a speech in the Knesset (Israeli parliament).

"In 600 days of war, we changed the Middle East, pushed the radicals out of our territories, entered the Gaza Strip, eliminated tens of thousands of militants, eliminated (Mohammed) Deif, Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Sinwar," the Israeli prime minister said, quoted by local TV channel N12.

The Prime Minister added that during the fighting, the Israeli military took control of the Gaza perimeter, the Rafah checkpoint, the Philadelphia Corridor and the Morag axis, and destroyed a large number of Hamas infrastructure facilities.

Positive dynamics have emerged in the negotiations mediated by Egypt and Qatar.

On May 22, US President Donald Trump expressed support for Israel's military objectives in Gaza. He supported Netanyahu's goals of freeing Israeli hostages, eliminating Hamas, and advancing the American president's plan to resettle residents of the enclave.
