The Russian Xcite car brand refuted suggestions of closure

The Russian Xcite project continues to work, there are no plans to close it. This was stated in the press service of Avtozavod Saint Petersburg (formerly Nissan).
"Xcite is a project of Avtozavod Saint Petersburg LLC, there are no plans to close it," the Chinese Cars Telegram channel quoted the company's press service as saying on May 28.
When asked about expanding the product range, the company replied that they were analyzing current demand and market needs, but there were no specific solutions in this regard. The plant clarified that the company's production facilities allow for the large-scale and small-scale assembly of new models.
In March, the Telegram channel "Russian Automobile etc" reported that Avtozavod Saint Petersburg had completed the assembly of Xcite Cross 7 and 8 cars, and no new deliveries of car kits from Chery were expected. At the end of the same month, the company's press service announced that the production of models was continuing. According to the analytical agency Autostat, all Xcite cars sold in April 2025 were released in 2024.
On May 23, the Soueast car brand denied suggestions of a possible withdrawal from the Russian market. The company said it has big plans to expand its product line.
On February 19, it was reported that the production plan of Avtozavod Saint Petersburg for 2025 involves the assembly of just over 6.5 thousand cars. This is 2.5 times less than the number of machines that were produced at the enterprise in 2024.
