State Duma Deputy Nemkin will become Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences


State Duma Deputy Anton Nemkin, a member of the information policy committee and current racer of the Motor Sharks team, will take up the position of Vice President of the Russian Automobile Federation (RAF). The decision was initiated by RAF President Boris Rotenberg, RIA Novosti reported, citing the deputy's press service on May 28.
As Vice President of the Russian Federation, Nemkin will oversee key areas related to improving legislation in the field of motorsport and regulating the import of racing cars to Russia, the report says. He will coordinate work with government agencies, interact with the Eurasian Economic Commission, automobile federations of the EAEU countries and the media.
The deputy also plans to pay special attention to the issues of customs clearance of racing cars, taxation and the formation of a solid legal framework for regulating motorsport in the Russian Federation, Nemkin's press service noted. Previously, he dealt with these issues within the framework of the work of the relevant committees of the RAF.
In 2017-2018, the deputy competed in the Russian Mitjet 2L series of car races, and since 2019 — in the Russian Ring Racing Series (RCG) and amateur competitions. He also founded the Motor Sharks racing team.
The day before, it was reported that the State Duma in the first reading adopted a bill according to which administrative responsibility for driving under the influence of alcohol will occur if substances in the driver's body that are part of drugs that impair attention and reaction.
