Germany will provide military support to Ukraine in the amount of €5 billion. This was announced on May 28 by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

"Pistorius and his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov signed an agreement in Berlin on financing the supply of long-range weapons of Ukrainian manufacture. In addition, a contract was signed between Ukraine and the German military industry," the German Defense Ministry said on its website.

It is noted that Pistorius, during a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, stressed the immutability of Germany's position and said that Berlin would like to contribute to the joint efforts of Kiev's partners, including in the field of air defense.

Earlier in the day, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Germany would support Ukraine in developing its own long-range weapons. In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Merz's statements only provoke the continuation of the conflict. He called the chancellor's behavior a dangerous trend and an irresponsible position.
