The Swiss Ministry of Economy has approved the sale of 71 Leopard 1 A5 tanks to Germany on the condition that they will not be re-exported to Ukraine. This is stated on May 28 in a press release from the Federal Council (Government) of the confederation.
"On May 28, 2025, the Federal Council was informed that RUAG MRO could sell 71 Leopard 1 A5 battle tanks in Germany without special permission from 96 vehicles stored in Italy. Any transfer to Ukraine is excluded," the publication says.
