Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting with Celso Amorim, Special Assistant to the Brazilian President for International Affairs, during which the parties discussed the Ukrainian crisis. This was announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry on May 28.

"Lavrov and Amorim exchanged views in a substantive and frank manner on the current international situation and certain global issues," the ministry's website says.

The talks were held as part of the 13th International Meeting of High-level Representatives in charge of Security Issues. The parties discussed the current state of affairs in international politics, paying special attention to the Ukrainian crisis. The topic of global challenges and cooperation on international platforms was also touched upon.

The Foreign Ministry noted that Lavrov and Amorim confirmed their mutual commitment to deepen coordination of efforts between Russia and Brazil, primarily within the framework of the United Nations, the G20 and BRICS, where Brazil holds the presidency in 2025.

On the afternoon of May 14, a special aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force landed at Vnukovo Airport. Earlier, at a press conference in Beijing, Lula da Silva made it clear that he wanted to discuss the negotiation process on the Ukrainian conflict with Putin in Moscow.

Later, the Brazilian Embassy in Russia reported that Lula da Silva had made a short stop in Moscow and left Russia. The ambassador of the South American state to the Russian Federation, Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares, in an interview with Izvestia, called the shutdown of the special board technical.
