The German authorities will do everything to prevent the resumption of operation of the Server Stream 2 project. This was announced on May 28 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin.

"Germany will do everything possible to ensure that Nord Stream 2 cannot be put back into operation," said the head of the German government, whose speech was broadcast on the YouTube channel of The Guardian newspaper.

The Chancellor also said that Germany will continue to increase pressure on Russia in the field of tightening sanctions.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on May 23 that Merz opposes the resumption of the Server Streams project, and also supports new European Union (EU) sanctions against them in order to prevent cooperation between Russia and the United States in the gas sector.
