The head of the Presidential Council of Yemen thanked Putin for the government's support.

The head of the governing Presidential Council of Yemen, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, May 28, thanked the Russian leader for the support of the internationally recognized government of the republic.

Al-Alimi stressed that cooperation with the Russian Federation dates back almost 100 years. According to him, a successful breakthrough has been made in bilateral relations in recent years. He also recalled that the Soviet Union was the first country to recognize the republic.

"We want Russia to help us in returning peace, stability and security to Yemen and in returning a normal, functioning republican regime," the head of the presidential Council added.

Putin, in turn, noted the friendly nature of relations between Russia and Yemen. He stressed that trade and economic ties are successfully developing between the two countries.
