Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu expressed gratitude to the DPRK for its solidarity position with Russia on the Ukrainian issue. He stated this on May 28 at a meeting with the Minister of State Security Lee Chang-dae.

"I would like to express my gratitude to my Korean friends for their position in solidarity with Russia on all acute problems of world politics, and especially on the Ukrainian topic that is currently most relevant to us," Shoigu said, quoted by TASS.

The Secretary of the Russian Security Council noted that the DPRK's actions in support of Russia in the international arena speak to a truly independent policy of the North Korean leadership.
