Merz announced increased military assistance to Ukraine

Germany will continue and strengthen its military support for Ukraine. This was announced on May 28 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
"We will continue our military support and expand it," the Handelsblatt newspaper quoted him as saying.
According to him, both countries will sign a protocol on the purchase of long-range weapons systems.
Merz also added that European countries are ready to support technical negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. In addition, according to him, they count on the support of the United States in this matter.
Earlier that day, the Bild newspaper reported that the German government plans to allocate a large sum to Ukraine for the independent development and production of cruise missiles with a range of up to 2.5 thousand km.
On May 26, Merz announced that Britain, France, Germany and the United States had lifted range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine. He noted that this decision is aimed at giving it the opportunity to attack targets in Russia.
