The Tagansky District Court of Moscow sentenced Kirill Lyubentsov and Alexander Lukin, former top managers of Binbank, to eight years in prison. This was announced on May 28 by the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.

It is clarified that the defendants are charged under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Embezzlement or embezzlement").

"Everyone has been sentenced to eight years in prison to be served in a general regime penal colony," the press service said in a Telegram channel.

The convicts were detained right in the courtroom. In addition, the court granted the victim's civil claim.

On June 5, 2024, the Tagansky District Court began considering the criminal case of Lyubentsov and Lukin. According to the investigation, from 2015 to 2017, the defendants, together with unidentified persons, made a number of economically unjustified transactions that led to losses for Binbank, Rostbank and Trust Bank. These transactions took place during the restructuring of Rostbank by Binbank, after which both organizations' licenses were revoked.

The Cyprus company Stratola Investments LTD, controlled by the defendants, received a loan of $40 million from Rostbank in 2015, which was supposed to be repaid in 2016, but was stolen on bail. In 2017, the company also purchased 8.1 billion rubles worth of bonds from Rostbank with deferred payment, although Lukin and Lyubentsov knew about the impossibility of fulfilling the obligations of Stratola Investments LTD.
