The police in the Khabarovsk Territory have opened a criminal case on remote fraud. A 55-year-old woman lost 2.5 million rubles.
According to a resident of Verkhnebureinsky district, she received a call from a stranger who introduced himself as an employee of an energy company. The man reported the need to replace the electricity meter. The interlocutor offered to sign up for the queue remotely, for this the woman needed to dictate a code from an SMS message.
Later, the Khabarovsk woman received a call from the "security service". The interlocutor convinced the victim that fraudsters had gained access to her account on the Gosuslugi portal, IA AmurMedia writes. The woman agreed to transfer all her savings to a "secure" account.
The criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").
In the Sakhalin region, two pensioners gave almost 4 million rubles to fraudsters.
