American actor and director Kevin Costner may be sued in connection with a lawsuit filed by the stunt performer in the film Horizons: The American Saga — Part Two, 38-year-old actress Devin La Bella. This was reported on May 28 by The New York Post (NYP).

In La Bella's statement to the court, she complained that while working on the film, she was forced to participate in filming a violent scene that was not included in the original script. According to the plaintiff, she was recruited without preparation and consent as an understudy after actress Ella Hunt refused to appear in the scene. In addition, there was no intimate scene coordinator on the set.

It is noted that the incident occurred on May 2, 2023 on the set in Utah. La Bella's lawyer, Kate MacFarlane, called the incident "a prime example of sexist male-dominated Hollywood filmmaking." The actress herself stated that she was humiliated and traumatized by what happened, as "she turned out to be defenseless and was betrayed by a system that promised professional treatment."

Costner's legal team responded by calling the accusations "absolutely groundless." Marty Singer, the actor's lawyer, told NYP that Costner always wants to make sure that everyone is comfortable on the set, and also takes the safety of the participants seriously. He added that the understudy's words contradict the facts: the scene was explained to La Bella, and after the rehearsal she declared her willingness to participate in it to her coordinator, and after filming she did not complain about anything.

Earlier, on May 27, Anadolu agency reported that Turkish actor Halit Ergenca, who played the role of Sultan Suleiman in the TV series "Magnificent Century", was sentenced to a year, 10 months and 15 days in prison in the case of the protests in Istanbul. Ergench was found guilty of making false statements, but he denies his guilt. The judge clarified that the actor can appeal the decision.
