Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, who is on a visit to Laos, held talks with Lao Justice Minister Phaivi Sibualiphoy, the ministry's press service reported on May 28.

In his greeting to the head of the department at the meeting in Vientiane, Krasnov confirmed that relations between Russia and Laos are constructive and mutually beneficial, and are developing dynamically thanks to the Presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Thonglun Sisoulit. The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation said that the Russian supervisory authority has broad powers not only in criminal law, but also in protecting the rights of citizens, the interests of society and the state.

"The agency I head also coordinates the activities of law enforcement agencies to combat crime in all its manifestations, including transnational, and is the central body for international legal cooperation in criminal matters. Significant work is being carried out in the field of rulemaking," Krasnov said.

He added that one of the important tasks of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation is the training of professional staff at the departmental university. As Krasnov noted, this could become one of the priorities of bilateral cooperation both in terms of sharing experiences and holding joint scientific forums.

"As you well know, the whole world is now on the verge of the total introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into all spheres of our lives, and we are also dealing with this issue within our competence in relation to the tasks of law enforcement and supervisory work," the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation said.

Krasnov arrived in Laos on a working visit on May 27, the first visit of the Russian Prosecutor General to the country. It was noted that in Vientiane, the head of the department will hold talks with his counterpart Saisana Khotphuthon. It is also planned to sign a cooperation program related to the strengthening and development of further relations between the two states. For the first time, the heads of the supervisory authorities met in September last year as part of the IX Eastern Economic Forum.
