The proposals of Geneva and the Vatican as venues for negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the settlement of the conflict are related to the desire to impose Western platforms on the parties. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Izvestia about this on May 28, answering a question from Izvestia.

"[They are] related to the desire to impose Western platforms," said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, speaking about the reason for the appearance of such proposals.

On May 23, Peskov said that at this stage there are no decisions regarding the venue for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. The Kremlin spokesman added that a decision on a venue for negotiations would be made "when the time comes."
