Peskov noted Trump's assistance in holding talks with Ukraine in Istanbul

Progress in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine has been achieved, among other things, thanks to US President Donald Trump. His assistance contributed to the implementation of the agreements that were reached in Istanbul. This was announced on May 28 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Significant progress has been achieved, among other things, thanks to the mediation efforts of the United States and President Trump personally in terms of implementing the agreements that were reached in Istanbul," he told reporters.
According to Peskov, it is necessary to wait for the exact date and place of the second round of direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. He also noted that the exchange of prisoners of war under the "1000 to 1000" formula had been completed earlier, which is also extremely important.
At the moment, the negotiations are ongoing. The parties will soon exchange memoranda and prepare for the next round, Peskov added.
Earlier in the day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced his readiness to hold a trilateral meeting with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump. According to him, he is ready "for any format," but on one condition: Zelensky wants to choose a platform for the next negotiations.
