In the Kamchatka Territory, wild reindeer have begun to return to summer pastures. The animals are monitored by state inspectors.

According to the press service of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, groups of artiodactyls appeared in the Kronotsko-Bogachevskaya tundra and the Kronotsky Estuary. The number of animals listed in the Red Book of Russia is constantly growing. Deer watching is conducted from afar.

The appearance of offspring is expected in late May–early June, SakhalinMedia news agency writes. Experts note that Kamchatka reindeer have genetic differences from other populations. According to the 2024 aerial survey, at least 800 individuals live in the Kronotsko-Zhupanovsky herd.

There is a three-year conservation project for wild reindeer in the region. He is supported by the Conservation of Ecological Systems of the Far East and Siberia Charitable Foundation.
