Two pensioners suffered as a result of remote fraud in the Sakhalin region. They lost almost 4 million rubles.

According to SakhalinMedia news agency, scammers contacted a 61-year-old resident of the village of Smirnykh on behalf of Vodokanal. The scammers convinced the pensioner that it was necessary to confirm the request for checking the water supply line and name the code from the SMS message. Then the woman received a call, the interlocutor announced the hacking of the victim's account on the Gosuslugi portal. Sakhalin transferred 1.6 million rubles to a "secure" account.

In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a 64-year-old woman received a message allegedly from a former supervisor. The source said that an inspection was being carried out at the enterprise, in connection with which the pensioner might receive a call from an FSB officer. On the next call, the scammer convinced the victim to transfer 2.3 million rubles to an outside account.

In Moscow, a pensioner gave fraudsters almost 24 million rubles after a call allegedly from a marketplace. The 70-year-old man gave the money to the courier in a foreign currency.
