Over the past day, 355 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 42 people were killed and 419 injured. 33 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on May 28 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. 18 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which two people were killed, and 34 more road users needed medical help. The reason for 10 bus accidents was traffic violations by their drivers.

So, in the Voronezh region, on the 481st km of the federal highway M-4 "Don", a 61-year-old driver of an intercity bus with 41 passengers in the cabin collided with a truck moving ahead in the same direction. After being hit from behind, he crashed into a second truck moving ahead.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the first truck, as well as the driver and one passenger of the bus, were hospitalized with injuries, and 12 more passengers were sent for outpatient treatment after medical treatment. Previously, the collision occurred due to the fact that the elderly bus driver was distracted from driving and did not keep his distance in front of the trucks moving in front of him, which began to slow down in front of the scene of another accident.

As a result of 90 accidents, 35 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 55 outside their area of operation, nine pedestrians were killed, and 82 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 26 child pedestrians under the age of 16, five of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings. 74 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 76 young road users were injured, including 18 passengers, 17 cyclists and eight motor transport drivers. Three children were killed — two passengers and one pedestrian.

So, in Saratov, late in the evening, a 24-year-old passenger car driver ran over a 13-year-old schoolgirl who was crossing the roadway at a controlled pedestrian crossing at a forbidding traffic light. The girl died. The driver of the car that hit her refused a medical examination for intoxication, fled the scene of the accident, but was later tracked down. Over the past year and a half, he has been brought to administrative responsibility eight times for violating the rules of tinting vehicle windows, not wearing a seat belt and not giving pedestrians an advantage in movement.

In the Republic of North Ossetia— Alania, on the 6th km of the Mozdok-Vinogradnoye regional highway, a 40—year-old female passenger car driver left the road in the evening and crashed into a tree. She and her two passengers, including her 14-year-old daughter, were killed in the accident. Another minor passenger of the car (the second daughter, born in 2007) was hospitalized with injuries. In 2024-2025, the deceased female motorist was brought to administrative responsibility seven times for exceeding the set speed limit and not wearing a seat belt.

In the Orenburg region, during the daytime, on the 168th km of the Ural M-5 FAD, a 62-year-old truck driver with a tank semi-trailer drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with two trucks and an SUV driven by a 67-year-old motorist. The four-year-old grandson of the car driver, who was in the back seat in a child restraint and wearing a seat belt, was killed in the accident. The culprit of the collision, the driver of the SUV and another young passenger (the nine-year-old brother of the deceased boy) were hospitalized with serious injuries.

The third passenger in the passenger car was injured and, after receiving medical treatment, was sent for outpatient treatment. The injured student was also in the back seat and was strapped in at the time of the accident. Previously, the cause of the incident was the fatigue of the tanker driver, who was making a return flight from Syzran to Bazuluk without an inter-flight rest: he fell asleep at the wheel.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on truck and bus drivers to observe traffic rules and driving discipline. They need to assess the inertia of the vehicle depending on speed and congestion, dimensions, condition and width of the roadway, terrain and the possibility of skidding, as well as the density of traffic flow, dimensions and speed in their own, and most importantly — in oncoming lanes.

"Do not create accidents on the road. Remember that not only your own life and health are in your hands, but also the lives of other road users, and in the case of passenger transportation by buses, the lives and health of passengers in public and intercity vehicles, which depend on your discipline, well—being and driving experience. Be sure to alternate between work and rest, always leaving for a flight well rested and without the slightest signs of malaise," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on motorists to abandon risky driving, exceeding the permitted speed limit, sudden changes of lanes, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers. It is important to reserve time for yourself in order to have time to adequately respond to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment.

The day before, it was reported that the State Duma in the first reading adopted a bill according to which administrative responsibility for driving under the influence of alcohol will occur if substances in the driver's body that are part of drugs that impair attention and reaction.
