Shadaev supported the idea of abandoning the SMS code for changing the password on Gosuslugi

In the State Duma, the head of the Ministry of Finance, Maksut Shadaev, supported the initiative to abandon the SMS code as a password recovery tool for "Public Services". The minister announced this on May 28.

According to him, it makes no sense to send a person to the MFC every time he forgot his password. Therefore, four options are offered: MFC, biometrics, banking application and OTP application. At the same time, biometrics is not planned as a mandatory solution.

For Sergei Boyarsky, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, the main goal seems to be virtual PBX systems that issue numbers, including with city prefixes and without any identification. This includes individuals who are actively used by scammers and droppers. So far, we are talking about making rooms designed within the framework of such services linked to "Public Services".

At the same time, Shadaev told Izvestia that the launch of the anti-fraud platform is planned until March 2, 2026.

Earlier, on May 15, it was reported that, according to the results of a BI.ZONE survey, the most common type of fraud is telephone: four out of five Russians (79%) have received such calls over the past 12 months. Fraudulent mailing lists in messengers are in second place.: 42% had encountered them, and 25% said they had suffered themselves or their friends.

Fraudulent e-mail newsletters and web resources are slightly less common: 35% and 21%, respectively, have interacted with them over the past year.
