- Lavrov stated that the stability of the world depends on the West's compliance with the UN Charter.

The stability of the world order largely depends on the West's rejection of the policy of pressure and compliance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations (UN). This was announced on May 28 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"If we seriously talk about the stability of the global system, much will depend on whether we succeed in getting the West to abandon its destructive, ideological, and illegitimate attitudes and begin to faithfully comply with the principles of the UN Charter," Lavrov said at an international meeting of high representatives on security issues..
He also commented on the West's position on the Ukrainian issue, stressing that the emphasis on the principle of territorial integrity while completely ignoring the right of peoples to self-determination is unacceptable.
Also, according to Lavrov, Russia is anxiously watching the build-up of NATO troops along the line of contact with the Russian Federation.
On May 23, Lavrov said that the simplest step towards resolving the conflict in Ukraine would be for the West to demand that Kiev repeal laws that violate the UN Charter. He added that such a demand could be the first real step for those Western countries that are "fussing" in an attempt to find a solution.
