Russia to establish contacts with Laos in the fight against transnational crime


Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov met with Lao President Thonglong Sisulit during the visit of the Russian delegation to Vientiane. This was reported on May 28 on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.
During the conversation, Krasnov expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet in person and stressed the strategic nature of Russian-Lao relations. He noted that the visit is aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of law enforcement.
Among the priority areas of cooperation, the head of the Russian supervisory authority highlighted the fight against transnational organized crime, terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, corruption and money laundering.
Krasnov also said that his schedule includes meetings with representatives of most law enforcement agencies in Laos. He expressed confidence that the agreements reached would contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.
"I have no doubt that we will be able to reach agreements in order to strengthen cooperation on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, and their implementation will contribute to the further progressive development of Russian-Lao relations," stressed the head of the Russian supervisory authority.
At the end of the meeting, the Russian Prosecutor General thanked the Lao side for the warm welcome and wished the country peace and prosperity.
Krasnov arrived in Laos on a working visit on May 27. It was clarified that for the first time the heads of the supervisory authorities met in September last year within the framework of the IX Eastern Economic Forum. Then the Prosecutor General of Laos, at the invitation of Krasnov, came to Vladivostok.
