Hungary and Slovakia have imposed a ban on the adoption by the countries of the European Union (EU) of the declaration on strengthening democracy in Europe, prepared by Poland. This was announced on May 27 by Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs Janos Boca.

"Hungary and Slovakia did not support the proposal to strengthen democracy in Europe," the MTI news agency quoted him as saying.

Boca made the corresponding statement following a meeting of the Council of the European Union on General Issues in Brussels during a conversation with journalists.

Slovakia and Hungary believe that some EU member states misinterpret the sustainability of democracy, the politician stressed. Boca explained that the document submitted by Poland should first increase transparency in the financing of non-governmental organizations.

Earlier in the day, retired U.S. Army Colonel Douglas MacGregor said that the peoples of European countries do not want to be ruled by Brussels and globalists. According to him, those in power in Europe should be eliminated, which is unlikely to be achieved democratically.
