US President Donald Trump said that connecting to the Golden Dome missile defense system could cost Canada $61 billion, but if it joins the United States, this system will be free for Canada. On May 27, the President of the United States announced this on his Truth Social network.

"I told Canada, which really wants to be a part of our wonderful Golden Dome system, that it would cost $61 billion if they remained a separate but not equal nation," Trump said.

He noted that connecting to the system could cost zero dollars if Canada becomes the 51st state of America. According to Trump, the proposal is currently being evaluated by the Canadian authorities.
