The real reason for the hearings on Hungary's disenfranchisement in the European Union (EU) is the country's position on Ukraine. This was stated on May 27 by Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs Janos Boca on the Facebook social network (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).

"Several member states have even expressed that the real problem with Hungary is what position it represents in connection with Ukraine's support and its accession to the EU," he said.

According to the minister, the reason for the political pressure on Hungary is that the state has a "resolute and national-interest-based position on Ukraine."

On May 26, Hungarian Foreign Ministry Secretary of State Tristan Azbey pointed out that the Brussels authorities are constantly giving "harmful and dangerous" responses to the Ukrainian crisis. According to him, Hungary believes that Brussels' plan to help Ukraine join the European Union (EU) is very dangerous. Azbey added that Ukraine's accession to the EU "will not help anyone."
