In Stakhanov, Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), law enforcement officers confiscated a red Amur tiger from a local resident who kept the animal in an apartment. This was announced on May 27 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk in the Telegram channel.

"[The tiger] had to be removed and temporarily housed in one of the local pet shelters," she said.

The former owner of the Red Book animal was also informed that the illegal trafficking of especially valuable wild animals belonging to species listed in the Red Book of Russia is a criminal offense.

Earlier, on March 7, a male cougar arrived at the Moscow Zoo, which was seized from a local resident. The animal was given a preliminary diagnosis of epilepsy and chronic enteropathy. Previously, the male had repeatedly experienced epileptic seizures.
