Humanitarian aid was delivered to the only resident of Marinka
Galina, the only current resident of the city of Maryinka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), has received humanitarian aid. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on May 27.
Earlier, the woman was forced to leave her place of residence, but returned in April this year.
"I'm drawn to my homeland. I was the last to be evacuated from here, but I was the first to return," she explained.
Galina's house was badly damaged due to the fighting. The damage includes a collapsed foundation and a broken roof. The resident now has bricks and shards of broken windows under her feet.
The humanitarian aid for the woman was delivered by Izvestia correspondent Yevgeny Bykovsky together with a colleague from the Donetsk News Agency.
"At first, I was worried about how I was going to survive, but then I remembered that this was my family, and I reconciled," she said.
On February 24, Izvestia showed footage from Marinka, which was liberated more than a year ago. The city, liberated in December 2023, was almost completely destroyed during the fighting. Maryinka is adjacent to the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, from where the Ukrainian army attacked various areas of the capital of the DPR, "perfectly seeing where they were shooting."
On December 25, 2023, former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the liberation of Maryinka. He said that the assault detachments of the South group had taken the city during active offensive operations.
