In the Sverdlovsk region, since the beginning of the season, 14.5 thousand people have applied for medical help in connection with tick suction. This is reported by the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.

According to the agency, 1.4 times more people have been affected by ticks this year than in the same period of 2024. However, the indicator is at the level of the long-term average.

Cases of sucking ticks were recorded in 65 municipalities, the news agency " <url>" clarifies. 34 people were hospitalized with suspected encephalitis, three of them have already been diagnosed, 77 people with suspected borreliosis, 18 of them have been confirmed.

Acaricide treatment of public places continues in the region. As of May 26, 8.6 thousand hectares have been processed. 113 thousand vaccinations against tick-borne encephalitis were also carried out, and 238 thousand people were vaccinated again.

Earlier in May, Vladislav Zhemchugov, internist, immunologist, MD, specialist in especially dangerous infections, spoke about the symptoms of encephalitis. They are severe headache and very high fever. In this case, the disease may not manifest itself for six months after a tick bite.
