The State Department commented on Trump's statement about Russia

The words of US President Donald Trump that Russia is allegedly playing with fire should not be seen as his disappointment. This was announced on May 27 at a briefing by the press secretary of the US State Department, Tammy Bruce.

"I wouldn't call it a disappointment. This is a statement from a man who leads peace efforts in so many different regions. He makes it clear and is absolutely open about his opinion," said Bruce, whose speech was broadcast on the department's YouTube channel.

She added that the United States continues to support direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and efforts aimed at a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
