The virologist called the symptoms of chikungunya fever

Chikungunya fever can occur the day after an infected mosquito bite. Virologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Viktor Zuev told about this on Tuesday, May 27.
"Incubation for chikungunya fever lasts from one to 12 days, but usually within 3-7 days," the expert explained in an interview with aif.ru .
The virologist noted that the disease can occur in one of three forms.
"The acute form is characterized by a sudden rise in temperature, joint inflammation, skin rash, fever for several days," he said.
Other symptoms of chikungunya fever include muscle aches, back pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting.
At the same time, in the chronic form, the disease does not manifest itself for a long time.
"The infection can become acute at any time. For example, with a decrease in immunity due to a cold," the virologist concluded.
Earlier that day, Karl Chukwuemeka, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases with courses in Epidemiology and Phthisiology at RUDN University, told Izvestia that joint soreness is observed in patients with chikungunya fever, an outbreak of which was recorded in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
He added that doctors are faced with the task of differentiating fever, the main carrier of which are mosquitoes.
Earlier, on May 26, the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka warned of the largest outbreak of chikungunya fever on the island in the last 20 years, RT reports.
On April 4, the French Regional Health Agency (ARS) launched an emergency "white plan" at the University Hospital of Reunion amid an outbreak of chikungunya fever. It clarifies that the protocol of the "white plan" allows medical institutions to quickly mobilize human and material resources to combat the spread of the disease.
