In the Moscow Zoo, an unknown person tried to poison the leopard Mizera with pills. This was announced on May 27 by the general director of the institution Svetlana Akulova.

"A heinous crime was committed on the territory of the Moscow Zoo — an attempt to poison our animals. During a routine inspection of enclosures with lynxes and a leopard, Miserably scattered pills of unknown origin were found," she wrote on her Telegram channel.

According to her, surveillance cameras recorded the moment of the attempted poisoning of the animal. In the footage, a man can be seen throwing pills at a leopard over a fence. Akulova also noted that the zoo, together with law enforcement agencies, will conduct an investigation aimed at clarifying the circumstances of the incident.

Irina Volk, the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, said in her Telegram channel that the police were taking measures to establish the identity of the unknown man, as well as his motives.

Earlier, on March 3, it was reported that the roof of the capybara enclosure caught fire at the Rostov-on-Don Zoo. It is specified that all the animals were evacuated to a safe place, none of them were injured.
