Fans attacked the doctor accused of murdering Maradona
Fans of Argentine football player Diego Maradona attacked his personal doctor Leopoldo Luque, accused of murdering the athlete, when the medic arrived at the courthouse. This was announced on May 27 by the TN TV channel.
"A group of people at the entrance to the courthouse intercepted the neurosurgeon and hit him on the head with a flag. He was also surrounded and insulted. Luke defended himself and pushed the attackers away," the publication says.
It is specified that the attackers chanted the word "murderer" to the doctor as he walked to the courthouse.
On March 27, the La Nacion portal, citing a medical examiner, reported that Maradona could have been in agony for up to 12 hours before his death. Upon autopsy, it turned out that Maradona's heart weighed 503 grams, which is twice the norm for an adult of his age.
Diego Maradona died on November 25, 2020 at the age of 60. The cause of death was acute heart failure, which led to pulmonary edema. The Argentine prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into alleged negligence on the part of the ex-footballer's doctors.
