Among the Russians surveyed, more than 40% have a joint budget in their family, and a quarter of families prefer to keep their budget separate. This is stated in the results of the VTB survey, which was reviewed by Izvestia on May 28.

Half of Russians discuss and make purchase decisions together. About a quarter noted that they allocate areas of responsibility, and everyone spends money within the framework of their tasks. Differences in approaches to family spending do not spoil relationships: more than half (54%) of respondents said that money does not cause quarrels in the family. However, if disagreements arise, it is most often due to spending on unnecessary things (30%), independent purchase decisions without prior discussion (10%) and excessive subscriptions to services (8%).

Experts have found that the main item of expenditure in Russian families is food (66%). Half of the respondents admitted that significant amounts are spent on small purchases, which eventually add up to large expenses. Also, 27% of Russians spend most of their budget on entertainment and online shopping.

At the same time, Russians shared their life hacks to save the family budget. 32% of the respondents noted that they save part of their salary for deposits and savings accounts. Another tip from respondents is to use bank loyalty programs and receive cashback.: 16% compare offers with their spouses, look for the most favorable conditions and pay for purchases with a suitable card. In addition, 12% of the survey participants categorize the budget, and 10% use cash to control expenses or look for alternative ways to manage finances.

"The family budget is no longer just numbers in a table or an application, but an opportunity for creativity. The survey shows that Russian families are no longer arguing about money, but are looking for original ways to save money together: they come up with life hacks, consciously approach the choice of cashback categories and compare offers before going shopping. This approach shows that Russians today don't just want to spend, they want to spend wisely, and healthy savings are becoming a new form of family care," said Rostislav Yanykin, head of the Transactional retail Business Department and Senior Vice President at VTB.

Earlier, on April 7, it was reported that more than half of the Russians surveyed (59%) plan to form family savings of more than 500 thousand rubles. There are almost equal numbers of men and women who want to save this amount — 61% and 56%, respectively. Such data was obtained during the research of Sberbank Life Insurance and the search and recruitment service <url>.
