Millionaire blogger Huseyn Hasanov, who was arrested in absentia in connection with the legalization of money earned as a result of tax evasion, may consider returning to Russia. Dmitry Kozyakin, the blogger's lawyer, told Izvestia about this on May 27.

"As soon as we figure out definitively what he is accused of, we will build a final line of defense accordingly. I think he will definitely consider returning to the country. He was born here, he is a citizen of the Russian Federation, he does not have citizenship or residence permits in other countries," he stressed.

The Moscow City Court earlier that day recognized the blogger's arrest in absentia as lawful. According to investigators, from 2019 to 2021, Hasanov evaded paying taxes in the amount of more than 170 million rubles. To make the money look legitimate, he legalized more than 20 million rubles through financial transactions. He is on the international wanted list.

On May 14, Hasanov was put on the wanted list under a criminal article. The blogger was charged under clause "b" of Part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Legalization (laundering) of large-scale funds or other property acquired by a person as a result of committing a crime").
