- The ROC intends to challenge the non-admission of hockey players of the Russian national team to the 2026 Olympics

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) intends to challenge the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the non-admission of hockey players of the Russian national team to the Olympic Games in 2026. This was reported on May 27 in the press service of the ROC.
"The suspension of the Russian hockey team from all international competitions began back in 2022 and has nothing to do legally with the IOC's decision to suspend the ROC in 2023," the organization's website emphasized.
In this regard, the ROC lawyers are working on options for challenging the IOC decisions in international courts. The Russian Olympic Committee added that there are no legal grounds for the suspension of Russian athletes, and their rights must be restored.
"Russian athletes should have the right to participate in all disciplines at the Olympic Games in Italy, including the ice hockey tournament," the ROC concluded.
On May 25, the president of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Luc Tardif, announced that the Russian national ice hockey team would not be allowed to participate in the 2026 Olympic tournament. According to Tardif, the organization also wants the IOC to officially announce this decision.
