Median salaries in IT have increased by 40% in five years. Such data is provided by the RealHR recruitment agency (part of the RW+ group), which was reviewed by Izvestia on May 28.

Among senior specialists, the highest average salary growth was observed among iOS developers and PHP developers - by 25% and 24%, respectively. Of the middle specialists, average salaries increased the most for C++ developers (by 46%) and product managers (by 39%).

According to RealHR analysts, 2022 and 2023 had the greatest impact on the growth of median salaries in the IT market. During this period, the average salary of senior specialists increased from 10 to 19%, among the middle - from 11% between the maximum and average salary. In some positions, the differences reached up to 39%.

The mobile development market has adapted most quickly to the changes — the situation in this area with the gap between the maximum and average salary has been improving since the second half of 2023. At the same time, the salary of senior mobile development specialists in both languages has since been kept at a level slightly above 400 thousand rubles, middle developers - 300 thousand rubles.

Since 2022, the demand for Golang developers has been actively growing in the market. The peak growth in average salaries for such specialists occurred in 2024, and over the past year alone, the number of vacancies has increased 2.5 times. Since mid-2023, the average salary for the best DevOps specialists and Java developers has remained consistently high — more than 400 thousand rubles and 450 thousand rubles, respectively.

"The interest is largely related to the growing popularity of the language in the design of new architectures. But if the growth from junior to middle developer is fast, then there are not enough senior specialists. Therefore, employers are actively luring away "stars" by offering salaries above the market. The maximum values have been held at 450 thousand rubles for several years," said Yulia Karpova, CEO of RealHR.

According to the RealHR agency, in 2022-2023 there was a sharp decline in demand for project managers and product managers. The number of vacancies decreased by 61% on average. At the same time, in the first quarter of 2025, there is an abnormally high demand for the position of product manager - more than 1.2 thousand vacancies have been opened in Moscow alone.

According to Karpova, in a couple of years, specialists will begin to appear who will do a review (verification, analysis) of the code written by AI.

"The developer position itself will not disappear, but junior and middle specialists will have to improve their skills faster, because AI significantly speeds up and reduces the cost of work. Yes, he may not do it gracefully, but at this level it's not that important. People will still be coming up with conceptually new solutions," she concluded.

On May 24, Natalia Novoselova, a career guidance counselor and co-founder of the Point B school of career choice, told Izvestia about the most popular professions among teenagers in 2025. According to her, programmers and other digital specialists remain traditionally popular among young people. Engineers are no less in demand on the labor market — a profession experiencing a real shortage of personnel both in Russia and abroad.
