The AFD intends to discuss Merz's words about increasing the range of weapons.

The parliamentary faction of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which opposes the supply of Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine, intends to discuss in the Bundestag the words of Chancellor Friedrich Merz about lifting restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Kiev. This was announced on May 27 by party deputy Steffen Cotre.
"The AFD faction will bring this topic up for discussion," he told RIA Novosti.
The politician noted that contrary to Merz's statements that the West is contributing to a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, Germany and other countries are only prolonging the conflict with constant arms supplies.
"German policy has tacitly accepted the positioning of Ukraine against Russia by the forces of the United States and Great Britain, as well as the disruption of peace talks. This is anything but peaceful diplomacy," he added.
On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decision to lift restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine was an escalation. According to him, this intensification of the crisis in the most serious way contradicts all attempts at a peaceful settlement of the conflict that are currently being undertaken.
On May 26, Merz announced that Britain, France, Germany and the United States had lifted range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine. He noted that this decision is aimed at giving it the opportunity to attack targets in Russia.
