The Party of Socialists of Moldova has condemned the decision of the parliamentary commission to gradually denounce the agreement with the Russian Federation on the activities of cultural centers, including the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC, Russian House). The message was posted on the party's Telegram channel on May 27.

"The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova categorically does not accept the decision of the parliamentary commission on Foreign Policy and European Integration, which approved the conclusion of the denunciation of the agreement with the Russian Federation on the activities of cultural centers," the material says.

In addition, the Socialists stated that they consider this step as a manifestation of Russophobia. Cooperation with the RNCC, in turn, has brought many benefits to Moldovan youth who have had the opportunity to study in the Russian Federation. The party called for "abandoning the destructive policy of confrontation," which could lead to the isolation of the country.

According to the Moldovan opposition, on the contrary, it is necessary to establish a dialogue with one of the most important strategic partners — Russia.

On May 23, the Moldovan Ministry of Culture sent to Parliament a draft decision on the denunciation of the 1998 agreement with Russia, which regulated the work of the Russian House in Chisinau. According to the agency, in the current geopolitical situation, Russia may use it allegedly for the purposes of disinformation.
