- Peskov called the lifting of restrictions on the range of weapons for Ukraine an escalation.

The decision to lift range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine is an escalation. This was announced on May 27 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"One way or another, if this is true, then this is an escalation," Peskov told reporters.
According to him, this escalation is in the most serious way contrary to all attempts at a peaceful settlement of the conflict that are currently being undertaken.
"We see that the Europeans are not standing in the way of peace. The Europeans are standing in the way of further increasing pressure on Russia. They still dream that something can be achieved from Russia by pressure," summed up the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
On May 26, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that Britain, France, Germany and the United States had lifted range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine. He noted that this decision is aimed at giving Ukraine the opportunity to attack targets in Russia.
However, later the co-chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), Vice-Chancellor of Germany Lars Klingbeil denied Merz's statement about the lifting of restrictions.
The next day, the German Chancellor said that he had talked about the decisions that had been taken a few months ago.
