If Western countries start supplying long-range weapons to Kiev, the Ukrainian conflict will reach a new level, which will significantly complicate the negotiation process. Andrei Klimov, a member of the Federation Council, said this on Tuesday, May 27.

"If such restrictions are really lifted in practice, the conflict will reach a new level. And the old prerequisites for its settlement may not work. So representatives of Western countries should pay more attention to what they say and do," the senator said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

The politician stressed that even the supply of long-range missiles to Ukraine would not prevent Russia from solving its tasks in the conflict. At the same time, Klimov warned that the conditions for resolving contradictions between the parties may change. He recalled that US President Donald Trump once said about the head of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, that his every word worsens the situation and confuses everything.

"The same can be said about German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and some other European leaders," the senator said, adding that all this would not prevent Russia from solving its complex tasks, but solutions could change due to the fault of people like Merz.

The day before, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that the United Kingdom, France, the United States and, after them, Germany lifted range restrictions for weapons supplied to Ukraine. Thus, Kiev can now attack targets on the territory of the Russian Federation with long-range missiles. As noted by the Clash Report, Germany plans to send from 100 to 150 Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.

German political analyst Alexander Rahr told NSN that only Trump can dissuade Merz from supplying Taurus to Ukraine.

On May 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow believes that the decision to allow Ukraine to use long-range weapons to attack Russia from Western countries was made a long time ago and was simply kept secret, IA Regnum reports.

In turn, Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that the decision of European politicians to lift restrictions on the supply of long-range weapons to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would only exacerbate the Ukrainian conflict. 360.ru .
