Former Romanian presidential candidate George Simion, who lost the election, made a statement on May 27 about the need for deep political changes in the country.

According to him, Romania needs a leader capable of ensuring genuine social peace, and not "a world imposed by propaganda through terror and censorship."

The politician said that the state is run by "puppets" mired in corruption and incapable even of public speaking. He stressed that the future president is obliged to mobilize the people and realize the potential of the Romanian nation.

"Let [Romania] have a deck of diplomacy, and [it will not be] a pawn on someone else's chessboard," Simion said.

He also said that Bucharest would no longer send money and weapons to Kiev and "spend public money on foreign interests."

On May 20, former Moldovan President Igor Dodon said that the current head of the republic, Maia Sandu, and other representatives of Chisinau directly interfered in the presidential elections in Romania in order to preserve "loyal friends." Commenting on the results of the second round of the Romanian presidential election, Dodon noted that the last campaign demonstrated a deep split in the neighboring country.

On May 18, the country's Central Election Commission announced the victory of Bucharest Mayor and ruling party candidate Nicusor Dan in the second round of the Romanian presidential election after counting 99% of the ballots. According to calculations, Dan has more than 54% of the votes. It is specified that he addressed the voters, saying that his victory belongs to his fellow citizens.
