Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, May 27, told how his father introduced him to planting potatoes.

"Speaking of which, about the potatoes. I used to be with my parents, too, and my father introduced me to this case. Well, it's not an easy job. Plant these potatoes, then weed them," the head of state emphasized during a meeting of the Supervisory board of the Autonomous Non—Profit Organization "Russia - the Land of Opportunities."

Putin added that at a meeting with business representatives the day before, he was told that there were not enough potatoes in Russia.

"It turns out that we don't have enough potatoes. I talked with [President of Belarus] Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko. He says, "We have already sold everything to Russia," Putin said.

The President noted that the agricultural sector in Russia is currently developing, becoming a high-tech and interesting area of work.

A day earlier, Putin and Lukashenko had a telephone conversation. It is specified that during the conversation the heads of state discussed the main issues of the bilateral Russian-Belarusian agenda and the international situation.
