Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov on Tuesday, May 27, held talks with Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister So Sokha, during which he noted the active development of bilateral relations, including in the law enforcement sphere.

"Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin described the relations between our countries as friendly and reliable. This meeting also demonstrates the focus on comprehensively strengthening cooperation between Russia and Cambodia, which is actively developing in a wide range of areas, including cooperation in the law enforcement sphere," the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation emphasized.

Special attention in the dialogue was paid to issues of international legal cooperation. The Russian Prosecutor General pointed out the urgency of joint efforts in combating cross-border crime, including cybercrime.

"In modern conditions, cybercrime is the greatest danger, which covers a wide range of criminal acts and poses a threat to global security as a whole. It really requires a coordinated approach from many agencies to combat it," he stressed.

As part of the discussion of educational initiatives, Krasnov suggested that the Cambodian side expand cooperation with the relevant University of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office. He noted the successful experience of conducting field training programs aimed at sharing best practices in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, arms trafficking and money laundering, including using cryptocurrencies.

A day earlier, Krasnov signed a memorandum of understanding with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Cambodia Kyet Rith. According to the Prosecutor General, the signed document should strengthen the legal basis for joint work between the two countries. According to the memorandum, the countries undertake to strive to achieve practical results "in the field of combating crime and protecting human rights and freedoms."
