The ruling elites in the West are turning freedom, democracy and human rights into decorations, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 27 during a meeting of the supervisory board of the Autonomous Non—Profit Organization Russia - the Land of Opportunities.

"The number of foreign representatives, despite, or perhaps because of, the information campaign unleashed against us, is growing. They share our views and face the fact that the so—called ruling elites in some Western countries are turning freedom, democracy, and human rights and opportunities into decorations," the head of state noted.

Thus, the authorities of Western countries began to actually ignore the opinion of society. However, like-minded Russians abroad are actively involved in creative work with Moscow, seeing Russia as a stronghold of traditional values that are close to the whole planet, the president said.

"I think it's no secret, I won't say anything unusual: we see that in many countries these ideas are being picked up by those people who have quite broad, large and powerful powers today, which makes us happy," Putin stated.

Earlier, on May 16, Sergei Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), noted that multipolarity is now becoming more and more visible. He noted that at present, as never before, there are signs of degradation of the Western-centric world order.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on April 16 that more and more people in various countries of the world see Russia as a guardian and defender of traditional values.
